Fix & Repair Credit is a blog devoted to helping you determine your credit score, improve your credit score, and repair your credit rating.
The blog will offer links, information, resources, and advice on fixing credit scores, repairing bankruptcies, repairing your credit cards, and learning how to live in a financially responsible manner.
The first thing you'll need to do is determine your current credit score. Without this, you'll have no way of knowing what to address, and whether it's working. You'll learn your credit score by getting your credit report.
This can be done by ordering from one of the three credit reporting agencies: Equifax, TransUnion, and/or Experian.
All consumers are entitled to obtain a free credit report from each of the main credit bureaus.
You'll also want to learn about the Fair Credit Reporting Act, or FCRA. The FCRA lays out the guidlines that credit agencies must follow, and offers keys to quickly repairing bad credit.
In a nutshell, it says that a consumer can dispute any legitimate discrepancy on their credit report. Once an entry is disputed, the credit agency has 30 days to verify the information. If they fail, then that entry must be removed from your credit report.
This is the first step in the process you'll have to do to repair your credit.
